2014 Student Research Opportunities at ICPSR

ICPSR is the world's largest archive of digital social science data.  It also offers an award-winning summer internship program for undergraduates, and four student research paper competitions highlighting exemplary research papers based on quantitative analysis.  Winning papers in each category are awarded  $1,000 for first place, and $750 for second place.

In this webinar Program Manager Abay Israel provides details about ICPSR's summer internship program for undergraduates (funded in part by the NSF).  He also discusses the four research paper competitions:

  • RCMD Research Paper Competition: for papers on issues relating to minorities in the United States, including immigrants, using data from the Resource Center for Minority Data.
  • IFSS Research Paper Competition: for papers on any topic using data from the Integrated Fertility Survey Series.
  • ICPSR Research Paper Competition: for papers on any topic using data from the ICPSR General Archive or Thematic Collections.
  • NAHDAP Research Paper Competition:  for papers on issues relating to drug addiction or HIV using data from the National Addiction and HIV Data Archive Program.

Applications for the summer internship program and submissions for the paper competitions are due January 31, 2014.
