Trump: America Disapproves

Much attention has been paid to the significant downward trend in President Trump’s approval ratings since his foray into office in January. It would be a stretch to say that Americans were shocked to see such low ratings. However, a recent data comparison released by FiveThirtyEight sheds light on the gravity of the situation.

Comparing Trump’s net approval rating to those of previous presidents at the same interval in their presidencies, the data shows that Trump is the only president to have a negative net approval rating. Dating back to President Truman, notably the President with the highest approval rating during his third month in the post, Americans have never seen anything like this. With 41.3% of the relevant, surveyed population approving and 52.4% disproving, Trump’s net approval rate is -11.1%. With many controversial policy changes looming, many are interested to see how this statistic changes in the coming months. Needless to say, Americans are definitely less inclined to believe that Trump is “making America great again.”
